Sheryl Tewksbury, Foundation Director
Sheryl Tewksbury, Foundation Director, draws from a professional background of 25 years of scholarship and educational experience as a college instructor in Women’s history, American government, English and Developmental Studies. Along with teaching, she served in administrative roles for higher education programs in Vermont, Arizona, Iowa and Thailand. Since 2001, Sheryl’s leadership has taken Global Campuses Foundation from its grassroots status to a successful social profit organization supporting transformative learning experiences for hundreds of adults with differing abilities and their allies. In her leisure, she enjoys reading, travel, yoga and meditation.
James Tewksbury, Director of Programs,
James Tewksbury, Director of Programs, brings 35 years of educational leadership experience in higher education in the areas of education, psychology, and human development. He has taught in and administered teacher education programs in special education and early childhood education at colleges and universities in Vermont, Michigan, Massachusetts, Iowa, Arizona and Thailand, as well as directed programs for at-risk adolescents and adults preparing to attend college. In his role at GCF, Jim has inspired colleagues, campus participants, and GCF’s partners with his passion for innovative and transformative approaches toward viewing the human condition. He resides in Vermont and Thailand enjoying skiing, motorcycling and spending time with his extended family.
Sue Budd, Director of Development
Sue Budd, Director of Development, joined Global Campuses Foundation in 2010. A native of Minnesota, Sue comes to us with a business background and cross-cultural international experience including time working in India with IBM, and throughout the U.S.A. with AT&T. She has spent more than 10 years balancing a successful career in sales and consulting with a strong passion for social justice. She has several Godchildren with differing abilities and has worked as an advocate, home provider and consumer in the human services arena. She is actively involved with various organizations committed to empowering people with disabilities. Sue has also spent time in Thailand, working with youth and experiential learning projects. She values the time she spends in Vermont and is enthusiastic about giving increased structure to Global Campuses Foundation development and planning processes. In her free time, Sue enjoys the outdoors and recently earned her Master Naturalist certification.
Pam Fitzgerald, Academic Coordinator, USA
Pam began her journey with Global Campuses Foundation in September 2007. After practicing law for many years in Massachusetts and Vermont, Pam was returned to the field of education after volunteering with recreational programs for adults and children with differing abilities. She received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from the University of Vermont and her law degree from Suffolk University Law School. She recently received her Master’s degree in Education. Her graduate studies focused on Curriculum and Instruction as well as topics in Special Education. Pam is currently the Academic Coordinator for Global Campus Springfield. Pam is an avid reader and also enjoys gardening, running, swimming and traveling, especially to warmer climates.
Andreas John, Academic Coordinator, USA
Andreas has a passion for inspiring people to appreciate and BE who they are. He has been an Academic Coordinator for Global Campuses Foundation since January of 2008, teaching and learning with the participants of Global Campuses Bradford, Moretown and Randolph. It has been a privilege for him to share his passions, witness others realize and share what they are excited about, and observe as each of the different campuses creates a unique and authentic campus identity. Andreas received a B.S. in Kinesiology: Outdoor Education from the University of New Hampshire in 2007 and worked as a wilderness guide before arriving at Global Campuses Foundation. He lives in Calais, Vermont with his wife, Anne Marie, and his young son, Cedar. He loves spending time with his family, and following his passions in nature, art, music, and natural building.
Amy Miller, Academic Coordinator, USA
Amy Miller, Global Campus Coordinator for the Northeast Kingdom Campuses, Hardwick, St. Johnsbury and Newport, began her work with Global Campus in the Fall of 2008. Amy loves the adventure of learning through Global Campuses, from the grassroots style of emerging curriculum to the international focus of campus-to-campus connections. A native to Vermont, Amy enjoys exploring the culture of the Northeast Kingdom and loved the summer term activities of visiting farms, nature preserves and local heritage sites. Amy has always had international interests and Global Campuses’ focus on international studies and connections with Thailand keep her thinking globally. Amy graduated from Davidson College in 2006 with a B.A. in History and a concentration in Asian Studies. She lives in Norwich, where she enjoys a strong community, spending time outdoors and managing a local farmers’ market. She plays bluegrass fiddle music and can often be found on the tennis court.
Kachakorn Thaveesri (Ka), GCF Regional Director: Southeast Asia
Kachakorn is a founding core group member of Global Campus Chiang Mai who became the Director when it began in July 2002. She readily evolved as a strong natural leader well known for her successful counseling and facilitating skills. She loves to encourage the sharing of stories, dreams and learning experiences amongst everyone she meets. In 2009, Ka became the GCF Regional Director for Southeast Asia where she oversees campus development in Thailand and surrounding countries. Growing in confidence over the years, Ka has confirmed her belief in the power of higher education to enhance the lives of all people making the world a better place; a world of friendship, love, caring and peace. She is currently completing her Bachelor’s Degree work through Sukhothai Thammathiraj University. Ka loves her family, animals-especially dogs, and expressing herself through many forms of art.
Yutthaphon Damrongchuensakun (Non)
Director of Global Campus Chiang Mai, Thailand
Non became the Campus Administrator in 2002 when Global Campus Chiang Mai first started. He advanced to his current position as Director in 2009. During these years, Non has guided the administration of the campus to its successful status today. While working, he pursued his Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration which he received in January 2009 from Sukhothai Thammathiraj University . He now plans to pursue a Master’s Degree. When not diligently working at GCC, Non enjoys music, movies, researching information on the internet, and reading books. Non has excellent skills in finding professional seminars in the community to enhance curriculum development at GCC. He encourages his Global Campus colleagues to develop themselves and feels rewarded when they are happy.
Phakob Sai Thakeb (Kob) Director of Global Campus Sansai, Thailand
Originally a participant of Global Campus Chiang Mai, Phakob initiated a satellite campus in Sansai located outside of the city. As the director of GCS since 2006, she has promoted campus participants' involvement with educational field work activities in surrounding villages. Prior to her participation with Global Campuses, she worked in sewing and started her own sewing business. Her educational experiences at GCC lead her to her current study toward a Bachelor of Arts through Sukhothai Thammathirat University. Phakob is very interested in helping people, like herself, who experience disabilities. She is proud of her father who is a volunteer with Global Campuses and is helping people with disabilities in their village. She enjoys playing petanque and swimming. She also enjoys sharing her love of nature with other participants by traveling into nature.
Somkuan Thanapat, Director of Global Campus Nan, Tahiland
Somkuan has been the Director of Global Campus Nan since 2008. She is 41 years old, a mother of a son and a daughter, and comes from a large family of brothers and sisters. Somkuan has had a lot of experience with fieldwork as a village volunteer, facilitator, and vocational trainer. She created a program for saving money for the future and specifically for a funeral fund to help people with disabilities in rural villages. In her role with Global Campuses, she has learned how to identify and cooperate with government organizations focusing on developing the quality of life for persons who experience disability. Somkuan enjoys listening to music and reading books.
